Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic
Job Description –
Experienced diesel mechanic for heavy equipment, machinery and trucks
Repair machines or mechanical equipment according to standards.
Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues and conduct all necessary repairs.
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
Perform thorough maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Keep logs of work and report on issues
Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.
Minimum 5 years mechanical, fleet, rental, service or related equipment experience
Strong equipment and mechanical skills and diagnostic experience
Strong people, partner and team management experience
Ability to work flexible work schedules, including traveling to various locations each day

The apprenticeship program is a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction, teaching workers the practical and theoretical aspects of highly skilled occupations.

Anchor would like all employees to have a chance to grow within the company. We are encouraging Foremen and superintendents to provide names of employees who would be appropriate candidate.
2. Recruiting Apprentice’s
Recruiting with Department of Employment services, Engaging in job fairs, and utilizing networking.
3. Registration Time Frame
Beginning: February 2020
End: March 28, 2020
Hire Apprentice –90 day probationary period ( New hires only )
4. Beginning April 1, 2020
Class will be held twice a month for eight hours each day
5. On the Job Training
• Employee will be placed with a crew
• Foreman/Superintendent will provide mentorship and training to the apprentice
• Progress will be monitored and documented

Duties: Daily equipment safety inspections, check outgoing/incoming equipment, prepare customer orders for delivery, communicate effectively with inside sales/operations team, assemble/disassemble/clean shoring equipment, load delivery trucks, maintenance of rental fleet, organize/maintain yard/warehouse, work with and direct other yard employees and other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications: Organizational skills, certified Forklift operator, common sense, decision making/problem solving ability, data entry skills, lift up to 75 lbs, a valid VA drivers license, read/write English, good verbal/written communication skills, good attendance, bi-lingual helpful, safety conscious, able to work overtime as needed.
Experience: Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years direct experience in a construction equipment rental operation. Prior experience working with shoring equipment preferred. Certified forklift training experience a plus.
