Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic

Job Description –
Experienced diesel mechanic for heavy equipment, machinery and trucks
Repair machines or mechanical equipment according to standards.
Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues and conduct all necessary repairs.
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
Perform thorough maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Keep logs of work and report on issues
Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.
Minimum 5 years mechanical, fleet, rental, service or related equipment experience
Strong equipment and mechanical skills and diagnostic experience
Strong people, partner and team management experience
Ability to work flexible work schedules, including traveling to various locations each day

Apprenticeship Program Overview
The apprenticeship program is a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction, teaching workers the practical and theoretical aspects of highly skilled occupations.
1. Recruiting Apprentice’s Within Anchor First
Anchor would like all employees to have a chance to grow within the company. We are encouraging Foremen and superintendents to provide names of employees who would be appropriate candidate.
2. Recruiting Apprentice’s
Recruiting with Department of Employment services, Engaging in job fairs, and utilizing networking.
3. Registration Time Frame
Beginning: February 2020
End: March 28, 2020
Hire Apprentice –90 day probationary period ( New hires only )
4. Beginning April 1, 2020
Class will be held twice a month for eight hours each day
5. On the Job Training
• Employee will be placed with a crew
• Foreman/Superintendent will provide mentorship and training to the apprentice
• Progress will be monitored and documented
6. Graduation
Certificate of completion - two year program

Job Description

National Trench Safety (NTS) is a rapidly growing, financially strong company involved in the rental and sales of shoring equipment and traffic control products. We are looking for a yard laborer for our rental yard and support the team at our Manassas, VA branch operation.

Duties: Daily equipment safety inspections, check outgoing/incoming equipment, prepare customer orders for delivery, communicate effectively with inside sales/operations team, assemble/disassemble/clean shoring equipment, load delivery trucks, maintenance of rental fleet, organize/maintain yard/warehouse, work with and direct other yard employees and other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications: Organizational skills, certified Forklift operator, common sense, decision making/problem solving ability, data entry skills, lift up to 75 lbs, a valid VA drivers license, read/write English, good verbal/written communication skills, good attendance, bi-lingual helpful, safety conscious, able to work overtime as needed.

Experience: Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years direct experience in a construction equipment rental operation. Prior experience working with shoring equipment preferred. Certified forklift training experience a plus.

Site Superintendent has the responsibility and authority for daily coordination and direction of the project, so that it is safe, within budget, on schedule, and meets quality standards.

Site Superintendent Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Superintendent experience, managing civil/site work construction projects for private owners and state/local governments
  • Knowledgeable regarding all aspects of site work/drainage
  • Ability to provide a safe work environment through creating a culture of safety for the project and holding each individual on the project accountable for safe behavior
  • Experience supervising crews on earth-moving/grading and utility projects including sanitary, storm and waterline installation
  • Experience with organizing, coordinating and supervising the work of all subcontractors
  • Ability to determine work priorities, and coordinates work activities with all necessary parties to ensure that the project remains efficient and on schedule
  • Experience with reading and understanding project plans, specifications, contractual requirements as well as knowledge of the materials, equipment and tools necessary to layout and complete the work
  • Ability to demonstrate proper equipment & tool use, calculate slopes, percentages and elevations
  • Possess great organizational, management and communication skills
  • Problem solving and strong analytical skills that can be applied in resolving complex situations in the field
  • Confidence in identifying productivity issues and taking action to resolve them
  • Should currently have or previously obtained Training and Certifications including: First Aid/CPR, OSHA, Confined Space & Trench

Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman – Underground Utility Construction
Washington DC Metro Area

IPR Northeast is currently seeking candidates for Heavy Equipment Operators.  Projects primarily consist of civil construction, earthwork, and underground utilities including sanitary, storm and waterline projects.  Projects will be throughout Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia.


Heavy Equipment Operator will be capable of operating multiple types of earth moving equipment, such as, Excavator, Loader, Dozer, and other heavy civil construction equipment as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Heavy Equipment Operator must clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed
  • Engineering and survey skills: setting up transit, level, eye level, basic blueprint, able to read and understand grade, compaction ratios and densities
  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
  • Perform slope excavations and understand soil types
  • Safely operate heavy equipment in close proximity, above, underneath and beside existing utilities including high voltage electrical, high pressure pipe lines and infrastructure without causing damage to other utilities or structures
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • May be required to use hand signals to direct equipment operators.
  • Advise supervisors of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Participate in routine maintenance
  • Practice workplace safety
  • Carry out job duties and responsibilities while maintaining ABCI values
